As last week was a lot about social networking and mobile social networking in the media - today we ask our Opinion Leaders about what they think the future of mobile social networking is. There were already many interesting responses. See this link for more of them.
I’d say
- Accessing social networks with a mobile will be bigger than via PC within two years
- Overall, they’ll become less important as a percentage of mobile web traffic, as other types of mobile website get discovered and used
- Look out for a huge growth and therefore influence from emerging markets. Already Indonesia, South Africa and The Philippines are huge markets
- Advertising will emerge as the primary (but not the only) revenue driver.
What is Mobile Video’s Future?
The mobile video industry gained a new and powerful player this week - Ustream.tv, the popular streaming video service. uStream joins Qik, Kyte, Flixwagon and several other start-ups as providers of real-time video recording and viewing on mobile phones. These companies see a huge opportunity in the mobile video market and are carving out their territory and customers now.
What opportunity do these companies see that is so alluring? And will more companies join the mobile video market? Answering these questions requires understanding the mobile video industry as it stands today, as well as the possible future of mobile video.
Future of the Web: Mobile Social Linked
By now, it should be clear to everyone that the future of the Web is mobile devices, social networking, and linked data. Although this realization did not come to me until I attended the World Wide Web Conference (WWW2009) in Madrid, Spain, at the end of April. Several keynote speakers, tutorials/workshops, and dedicated tracks and sessions emphasized this fact. I’ll say a few word on each of the three pillars:...In short, as a Web site owner, if you want to survive on the Web for the years to come, you better ensure that your site is accessible from mobile devices, that you facilitate social interaction among your users, and that your data is open and linked, and linkable.
