THE proposed monitoring and archiving of users’ contacts on social networking sites such as Facebook and My Space would represent yet another erosion of our civil liberties for a negligible gain to our national security.

The premise that an international criminal network would blow its cover and reveal its dastardly plans via the pages of Facebook is absurd in the extreme. Surely even the most inept of criminal gangs and potential terrorists the Home Office is concerned with would move around the web using any number of aliases and internet cafes to disguise their tracks.

First, Last.fm announced that international users (those living outside of the US, UK, or Germany) will have to start paying for radio streaming, and now they’ve effectively banned all third party mobile clients. In a post on their official blog, Last.fm is stressing that “the mobile device restriction isn’t set in stone” and that they “may be able to make an exception”.

With the power that the iphone platform has to offer, the developers are developing application for about everything. You put your requirement and there is an application already for it. One such category of applications is the social networking application. Due to the demand of the people for social networking applications, there is a flood of applications in this category and today’s application about which is talk about also belongs to the same category and is called Storyz.

Wefi, the “Hotspot” based social network is now available to download through the S60 download catalog. By the way I hope they took in to account my remarks about the potential of the client to serve as a wefi-mobilemobile social network specially, when LBS and mobile social networks are prospering.
There are two issues that disturbs me with the client, the first is that it runs on background, but that can be partly solved by opening Wefi before every search for a wi-fi spot.

As the range of mobile social networking services and applications grow, innovative companies are looking to reach a broader user base by utilizing basic mobile phone functionalities like SMS. Launched yesterday, YellowPin is enabling anyone to locate and update friends within their networks, regardless of handset capabilities. Using your existing Facebook network, subscribers can inform friends of their locations and activities – whether at a business networking event, a sports game or local pub – simply by updating their status through the Facebook online application or sending a text to 555888 with their location.

YellowPin is transforming online socializing into in-person interactions for people who want to expand and connect their online network to real life activities.

The publication of the new white paper by Peggy Anne Salz, highlights that in the personal world of mobile social networks, advertising that encourages two-way interaction between advertisers and consumers will be more successful than conventional "push" style banner ads. The report suggests that virtual gifting is seen by many as the starting point for cultivating this two-way conversation.

For now, all attention is focused on Mobile Advertising For The Masses, my new-release white paper timed to CTIA and an essential read for marketers who want to tap into mobile social networks (and the ad networks they provide) to drive positive results. This time I evaluate the analytics capabilities offered by three ad networks: BuzzCity (BuzzCity), itsmy.com (itsmy.biz), and Peperonity (AdMob). I also compare the depth and breadth of analysis they provide, and examine the need for an additional comprehensive mobile analytics package to connect the dots, fill in the gaps, and give me the big picture view of what my campaigns achieved and how I might use this insight to plan and target future campaigns.
